People to People: The first item of business was a request for contributions for two of the Scouts who will be going to Australia this year as part of the People to People Student Ambassador Program. The Scouts have been asked to come up with fundraising ideas. When a fundraiser is decided on then the entire Troop will help; all profits will be donated to the Student Ambassador Scouts. Treasurer's Report: The Troop has a total of $4,172 in checking and savings. Quartermaster's Report: Mike P. is in the process of finalizing an inventory of Troop 180 equipment. Advancement Report: Final touches are being made to Advancement Lists. The Council's records need to be checked against the our list to make sure they match up. Two Scouts have advanced since Treasure Valley; Andy advanced to Life and Pat advanced to Second Class. Schedule: The schedule was reviewed; some details were discussed and some changes were made. January 15-16th: A cross country and camping trip will be held at Trout Brook for all Scouts. They will also be working on skills for the Klondike Derby. Some snowshoes will be available also. February 12-13th: Winter Carnival - location TBD February 15th: new date for the Pot Luck Supper/Advancement Ceremony February 27th: new date for Scout Sunday (First Congregational said Feb 6th didn't work) Spaghetti Supper: The tickets for the Silent Auction/Spaghetti Supper will be available soon. Each Scout will be expected to sell or buy 10 tickets. They are $6 each with a family maximum of $24. Tickets for Senior Citizens is $5. The date is March 12th. The money raised from this event goes to support Troop 180. Interested in helping? Sign up at any meeting, or contact your patrol leader. Gettysburg: The lottery for McMillan Woods Campground in Gettysburg National Military Park will be February 1st. I we are not picked for the time requested (April 16-20), then alternative plans will be made. Training: Parents interested in becoming trained in Scouting or Merit Badge Counseling should consider attending Scouter University on February 26th and/or Merit Badge Training on March 17th. Watch for details to follow. The prerequisites are Youth Protection Training (available online at www.mohegancouncilbsa.org ) and filling out an Adult Application (ask the Scoutmaster).
