Troop 180 was chartered in 1943. The Troop meets on Tuesday nights at the First Congregational Church in Holden, MA from 6:45pm to 8:30pm. The Troop is very proud of its tradition of helping boys attain the rank of Eagle; the highest rank in Scouting. As of 2009, our troop has graduated 81 Eagle Scouts. Our Troop enjoys physical outdoor activities, emphasizing hiking, camping, and backpacking. Troop 180 is part of the Quinsigamond District, serving the Central Massachusetts communities of: Auburn, Boylston, Holden, Leicester, Oakham, Paxton, Rutland, Shrewsbury, West Boylston, and Worcester.

This section of the website includes a Parent Guide, which offers specific information about Troop 180. It gives a brief history of the Troop, discusses the Tuesday meetings, and gives specifics for hiking, camping, equipment, summer camp, etc. A table of contents makes browsing through the information easier. Another section of this part of the website is for Forms. This section includes the many forms that might be necessary for Scouting. Permission/Information forms for Troop 180 campouts and events, CORI Forms, etc. All adults and parents who work with Scouts must have completed a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) form.

We've put together a list of items that are recommended for Scouts so that you could consider a useful and practical gift for your son. New England Backpacker(NEB) offers a 10% discount for Scouts (non sale items) if you show them the Boy Scout ID card. The Army Surplus stores are a good place to get wool items. There is a company in Colorado called Frostline which sells precut kits for parkas, packs, etc. Call 1-800-548-7872 for a free catalog. If you need help, ask a Scout Leader or store personnel. Keep in mind that layering is the best way to go vs. a heavy down jacket. Although it doesn't help with holiday shopping, EMS offers any outdoor group a 20% discount on all store items twice a year, in October and April. You can get a good comparison of items and prices by checking against www.REI.com , www.EMS.com , NEB and www.Campmore.com ...
